Michael's practice is currently focused on environmental disputes, including litigation in state and federal courts, and administrative appeals. In addition, he represents businesses and individuals in a broad array of environmental matters including Wetlands and Clean Water Act permitting, Superfund, hazardous and solid waste permitting and compliance. He has devoted particular attention to the wide variety of environmental regulatory and litigation issues associated with former manufactured gas plants.
Mike received his J.D. from the University of Maine (1988) and his B.A. from St. Lawrence University (1983).

Michael has represented the insured in some of the most significant environmental coverage cases in New Hampshire including EnergyNorth Natural Gas, Inc. v Underwriters at Lloyds et al, 150 N.H. 828 (2003), which settled the question of "trigger of coverage" in long-tail liability claims.
During the past two years he has been involved in the defense of complex toxic tort and property damage litigation associated with legacy hazardous waste sites. Mike also won a significant administrative appeal on behalf of a developer facing a large penalty action brought by the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. He has also represented utility clients in successful federal court litigation for contribution under the federal Superfund statute, and regularly is engaged in the support of site investigation and remediation efforts on behalf of clients.
