McLane Law Firm Hosts Cori Caputo Art Exhibit
Thursday, April 01, 2004
PORTSMOUTH, NH— The law firm of McLane, Graf, and Raulerson & Middleton Professional Association will host an exhibit of Portsmouth-area artist Cori Caputo’s new work. The public is invited to view the exhibit April 12th through May 28th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. McLane’s Portsmouth office is located at Ten Pleasant Street (above Me & Ollie’s Cafe in Market Square). Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy refreshments at a special reception held at the McLane office on Thursday, April 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Caputo’s narrative style offers an emotional perspective. “I paint what I feel and sometimes what I see” says the artist with a smile. The exhibit, “This is Where I Live”, includes fish materializing out of clouds, mysterious clocks, leaping mermaids, and a woman following a trail of blue hearts across the morning sea. Caputo attributes the animated feel of the paintings to her attempt to express “emotions and light”. Caputo attended the Alfred University art program in New York, and developed the style which she hopes will take viewers “to enchanted lands and uncharted islands.” Her paintings are often inhabited with, in her words: “flying fish, watchful moons, seductive trees, wise old owls and curious cats.” Cori Caputo’s work has appeared in fine art galleries from Virginia to Maine since 1984.
Since its inception in 1919, the McLane Law Firm has been an active supporter of the visual and performing arts in New Hampshire. McLane is pleased to continue its support of the Seacoast-area art community. For more information on this exhibit, contact Jean Hurlbut at 603-436-2818.
