Utilities Litigation

McLane represents numerous large gas and electric utilities throughout the eastern United States on a range of environmental litigation matters pertaining to former manufactured gas plants, including:

• Federal and state court insurance coverage litigation, including two federal jury verdicts and one federal directed verdict in favor of coverage against the London Market and various U.S. insurers;
• Defense of individual and class action claims alleging property damage and personal injury;
• Successful pursuit of CERCLA cost recovery claims against the successors to former utility holding companies who once owned and/or operated MGP sites; and
• Representation before federal and state agencies associated with investigation and remediating of sites.
