The law firm of McLane Middleton, Professional Association is pleased to announce that attorney John F. Cohan was named as a member director to the Smaller Business Association of New England (SBANE).
Founded in 1938, SBANE is a private not-for-profit association of approximately 600 member companies located throughout the six-state (New England) region. SBANE was established to provide a legislative voice for small business at the state and federal levels and to make practical information available to help business owners grow their companies. SBANE runs diverse, educational and networking programs each year and has active chapters in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The membership is characterized by a high degree of participation, reflected in a large and dynamic committee structure, addressing a range of topics from international trade to human resources.
John focuses his corporate practice on complex mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, private placements of equity and debt securities, bank financings, intellectual property licensing, renewable energy, software licensing and technology law.
John also represents and advises early stage companies and technology entrepreneurs in connection with their contracting, licensing, business planning, intellectual property needs, and general corporate compliance. John also has prior experience in both design engineering and sales and marketing in the high technology industry.
John received his B.S.E.E. from Syracuse University (1986), J.D. from New England School of Law, magna cum laude, (1996) and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts.
John is an Adjunct Professor at both Boston University School of Law and New England School of Law, teaching upper level Transactional Contract Drafting. Previously, he worked in the high technology industry in both design engineering and sales and marketing.
