Former Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Lawyer Named Boston’s Best Trusts and Estates Lawyer for 2011 by “Best Lawyers in America”

Cushing, formerly a partner with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart LLP, has joined the firm.
George’s forty-one year practice has focused on sophisticated estate planning and estate administration. Working extensively with individuals and families, including owners of closely-held businesses, his client service extends to advising clients on the disposition of their property, transfer of tax minimization and wealth preservation through the use of long term trusts, as well as advice on life time gifts, antenuptial agreements, planning for retirement, education of children descendants and charitable planning.
George also provides counsel in connection with tax disputes and probate litigation matters including will contests, interpretation of trusts and trust reformations.
He is considered one of New England’s preeminent trusts and estate attorneys. He was named Best Trusts and Estates Lawyer in Boston for 2011 by “Best Lawyers in America,” the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession. In 2001, he was also selected by the Boston Business and Estate Planning Council (“BEPC”) as its Estate Planner of the Year.
George has been a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, (“ACTEC”) since 1985. He has served on the ACTEC Board of Regents and is a member of its Fiduciary Tax Committee (formerly chair).
He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts in the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and the Federal District Court District of Massachusetts, as well as to the United Sates Tax Court.
George earned his J.D. and his B.A. from Harvard University, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and served in the United States Navy. He resides in Beverly.
