Attorney Linda S. Johnson will be presenting at this year’s The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) Conference October 30 – November 2 in Washington, D.C.
Her first presentation will be on Friday, November 1 on, “Understanding the Nuances of External Investigations.” Linda will be part of a panel discussing how to navigate the process when your school faces an allegation of student or employee harassment or misconduct serious enough to warrant bringing in an external investigator. This session will explain when, why, and how your school should bring in an outside investigator to review a situation so students, parents, and employees will have confidence that your school is managing the process appropriately. Linda will be joined on the panel by:
- Chris Day, Head of School, Cardigan Mountain School
- Susan Schorr, Investigator and Consultant, Susan Schorr LLC
Linda will also be presenting on Saturday, November 2 on, “A Systematic Approach to a Culture of Safety.” She will be joining John McVeigh, head of school at the Holderness School to discuss the critical responsibility of schools to ensure healthy relationships between adults and students. A school’s efforts should include policies, procedures, and educational awareness throughout the school community including trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and guardians, and even third parties. Learn about one school’s approach to setting behavioral expectations, responding to situations that arise, and helping adults and students alike to understand safe and healthy relationships as well as what to do or where to go for help when an inappropriate boundary crossing occurs.
