McLane Middleton attorneys Cameron G. Shilling, Beth L. Fowler, and Catherine H. Hines will be presenting at the Massachusetts Society of CPA’s Small Firms Conference on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Waltham, Mass.
Cam will present on Cyber Security Risks to Accounting Firms. During the session, he will discuss safeguards you can put into place to secure sensitive information that will go a long way towards minimizing your firm’s risk of a breach, while reducing potential fines in the event of an attack. With the new SEC regulations and IRS publication on data security, now more than ever, CPA firms need to make sure to review their processes so that they are in compliance with this new regulation.
Beth and Catherine will be co-presenting on Tax Reform. In this session, they will offer their thoughts on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (the “Act”) and the comprehensive changes to the Internal Revenue Code, as a result. They will explain the most significant changes in the Tax Code, as they relate to the Act, including cuts in the corporate and individual tax rates, the creation of new tax deductions, and the expansion and elimination of various business and individual deductions. They will also provide their recommendations including steps individuals and businesses should take into consideration, in light of the recent changes to maximize their deductions and overall tax liability.
