McLane Middleton attorneys Charla Bizios Stevens and Susan E. Schorr will be conducting a webinar called “Is the Grass Really Greener? Evergreen Employment and Enrollment Contracts” on January 11, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. ET for the National Business Officers Association.
As part of the presentation, participants will learn the differences between annual and ongoing enrollment and employment contracts to implement best practices at their schools.
Charla is the chair of the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. She has extensive background addressing litigated and non-litigated employment issues such as discrimination, harassment, employee classification and wage and hour claims. She assists employers in responding to labor audits, preparing personnel policies and minimizing risk in the hiring, discipline and termination of employees. She conducts management and harassment training and works with employers to maintain legal compliance in a cost-efficient and effective way. She has extensive experience conducting internal investigations for private employers, independent schools and colleges and universities. Charla regularly advises independent schools regarding risk management and policy writing with respect to issues involving both students and employees. She also has a diverse health care practice representing physician practice groups, health centers, mental health practitioners and ancillary providers regarding compliance, licensing, discipline and other issues. Susan finds solutions to legal questions and challenges faced by independent schools and social service organizations, and conducts investigations when serious misconduct is alleged. Grounded in thorough legal analysis, she offers practical advice and responsiveness. With a background as a social worker and current trustee of several non-profit organizations herself, Susan approaches client challenges in a holistic and detail-oriented manner. In the independent school context, Susan works with clients across the United States and is particularly experienced in counseling senior leaders on parent, child and institutional relationships and conflicts, conducting investigations in response to reports of sexual abuse and other serious misconduct, and updating policies and protocols with a focus on risk management and compliance.
