Middleton was honored as a recipient of a Manchester Union Leader’s 2012 Granite State Legacy Award.
The award is bestowed upon those who have given back to the Granite State – through business, philanthropy, politics and more. As president of the McLane Law Firm and senior member of its Litigation Department, Jack’s record of service is long and distinguished.
With 50 years experience as a trial lawyer and 24 years experience as a New Hampshire District Court judge, Jack has continuously served to advance the legal profession over the course of his career. He currently holds the position of Chair of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation for the second time, and is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is a member of the American and NH Bar Associations, and a certified civil trial specialist with the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers; an accredited mediator with the NH and US District Courts; a member of the ABA and NHBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections; a member of the ABA’s House of Delegates (served 1984-2005), former Secretary of the American Bar Association; former President of the New Hampshire Bar Association. the New England Bar Association, the National Conference of Bar Foundations, and the National Conference of Bar Presidents.
Jack is the recipient of countless service awards, including Boston University Law School’s “Silver Shingle”, the NH Bar Association President’s Award for Distinguished Service, the NH Bar Association President’s Award for Special Service, New Hampshire Business Leader of the Year, 2002, NHBIA Lifetime Achievement Award, 2005, the Charles Holmes Pettee Medal by the University of New Hampshire’s Alumni Association.
Jack serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center), Board of Trustees of the Society for Protection of New Hampshire Forests; Board of Trustees for the Mount Washington Observatory, Board of Directors of Amoskeag Industries, Inc.; Board of Trustees of NH Supreme Court Society and the North Country Board of the NH Charitable Foundation.
