McLane Middleton attorney Ryan J. Swartz will be presenting at Mass Lawyers Weekly’s upcoming webinar, “Trust & Estate Planning in a Unique Year” on October 14, 2020.
During this program, the speakers will address new trends and common estate planning questions. It is widely accepted that depending on the outcome of the election, changes to federal tax laws could be enacted in 2021. There are estate planning opportunities that attendees should consider taking advantage of before that happens.
Among other topics, the panelists will discuss:
- How should you alter estate planning strategies given the current situation? Are there specific elements of your plan that should be reviewed?
- How does the SECURE Act and CARES Act, including withdrawals and loans from retirement accounts, affect retirement planning?
- What should be addressed when multiple generations are living together during a pandemic?
- How should you approach federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (“GST”) tax exemptions?
Ryan advises individuals and families regarding various estate planning matters, including estate, gift, income and generation skipping transfer tax strategies. He advises fiduciaries in conservatorship, probate and trust administration matters. Ryan also counsels individuals and business owners regarding business succession planning and various asset protection techniques, including limited liability companies and asset protection trusts. He can be reached in the firm’s Woburn and Boston offices at (781) 904-2712 or ryan.swartz@mclane.com.
Ryan will be joined on the panel by Rebecca Macgregor of Bowditch and Paul M. Cathcart Jr. of Hemenway & Barnes.
